Koi Ku Nawa stands for real live rope performance: dark, physical, consensual — and never entirely harmless.

Bios

Short (~30 words)

Koi Ku Nawa is the live rope project of Cati & Boris from Frankfurt am Main. Since 2015, they have created real sessions between Shibari, BDSM, fetish and gothic aesthetics — intense, physical and without choreography.

Medium (~80 words)

Koi Ku Nawa is the live performance project of Cati & Boris from Frankfurt am Main. Since 2015, they have brought their real rope and BDSM dynamic to European stages, festivals and club events. Their sessions are created in the moment: from rope, trust, control, pain, surrender and the desire to reinvent intensity again and again. Between Shibari, fetish and gothic aesthetics, they do not present a classic show, but a real dynamic — dark, consensual, physical and with a taste for little cruelties.

Long (~200 words)

Koi Ku Nawa is the live rope performance project of Cati & Boris from Frankfurt am Main. Since 2015, they have performed together on stages, festivals and club events across Europe.

The name comes from Japanese: koi means love, ku means pain, nawa means rope. For Cati & Boris, this is more than a name. It describes their play: intimacy and control, trust and surrender, beauty and pain.

Their roots are in Shibari. What once had a stronger traditional and visual influence has evolved over the years into a more reduced, direct and darker form of live performance. Today, the focus is not the perfect pose, but the real session. Rope becomes tool, language and boundary at once.

Koi Ku Nawa works without fixed choreography and without acted drama. Every performance grows from the space, the music, the light and the connection between the two. What happens on stage is real play: the reactions, the effort, the control, the surrender. The audience becomes a silent part of the scene — not a participant, but a witness carrying the intensity.

Part of their signature is the joy of experimentation. New setups, new materials, new little cruelties — always consensual, often with a wink, rarely entirely innocent.

Whether fair, festival or small club: Koi Ku Nawa does not show a performance about rope. They show what happens when passion, trust and rope are truly used.

Event announcement (~60 words)

Koi Ku Nawa does not present a rope show. Cati & Boris bring real play to the stage — with rope, pain, control, surrender and dark elegance. Since 2015, they have created live sessions between Shibari, BDSM, fetish and gothic aesthetics: unchoreographed, consensual, physical and always close to the moment. What emerges is not a performance about intensity. It is intensity.
